A portion of Kamehameha Avenue on the Hilo Bayfront is closing between 8 p.m. tonight and 5 a.m. Tuesday to move concrete construction barriers.
A portion of Kamehameha Avenue on the Hilo Bayfront is closing between 8 p.m. tonight and 5 a.m. Tuesday to move concrete construction barriers.
The closure will affect the segment of roadway between Ponahawai Street and the canoe landing entrance.
The Pauahi Street/Bayfront Highway intersection will remain open. No turns, however, will be allowed on to Kamehameha Avenue.
Special duty police officers will direct motorists at three locations:
· The base of Wailoa Bridge to direct Hamakua-bound motorists through a detour and onto Bayfront Highway.
· Ponahawai Street/ Kamehameha Ave intersection to direct Hamakua-bound motorists to use Kilauea Avenue, and
· At the Pauahi Street/Bayfront Highway intersection.
