A 55-year-old Kurtistown man pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges he molested a girl he was babysitting almost six years ago.

Hilo Circuit Judge Glenn Hara ordered Philip Glenn Hutcheson to stand trial at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 12.

Hutcheson was indicted Sept. 10 on two counts each of first-degree sex assault and third-degree sex assault for the alleged molestation of the girl in 2008.

The girl, now 13 and living in California, told the Tribune-Herald last week Hutcheson had been her maternal grandmother’s boyfriend.

The judge maintained Hutcheson’s bail at $120,000.
