David Karl, 64, of Pahoa died Aug. 17 at home. He retired from the business world, and became an accomplished stained glass artist, specializing in volcanic eruptions. Memorial service to be held at noon Sunday, Aug. 31, at the Ainaloa Longhouse. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to local AIDS foundation or hospice organization. Survived by stepmother, Louise Richards Karl; brother, Philip Karl; and sister-in-law, Jane Karl of Jackson, Ohio. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary Inc., Hilo Branch.

Louis Clarence Saragosa, 64, of Volcano died Aug. 9 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a veteran of the Army. Funeral services to be Friday, Sept. 5, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation at 8:30 a.m., service at 10:30 a.m. and noon burial to follow at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery #2. Survived by spouse, Marika Carrel Saragosa of Volcano; sons, Desi Saragosa of Kohala, Aaron Saragosa of Kohala, Jon Saragosa of Honolulu, Joshua Hartzell of Arizona, Peterson Nuniez Jr. of Honokaa; daughters, Charmaine Saragosa of Kohala, Carla Saragosa of Kohala, Erika Saragosa of Kohala, Chelse Saragosa of Kohala, Angel Hartzell of Hilo and Rebecca Noah of California; brothers, Stanley Saragosa of Hilo, Leroy Saragosa of Hilo and Joey Richards of Hilo; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
