Girls on Friday

Paradise Roller Girls will hold “SuperHeroes vs. SuperVillains” on May 9 at Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium in Hilo. Doors open at 6 p.m., the action starts at 7 p.m. and fans are welcome to dress up as their favorite comic book super hero or super villain for a costume contest at halftime.

Tickets are $5, and keiki age 5 and younger are free.

Tickets are available at Lucy’s Taqueria, Mt. View Village Video, Hilo Town Tavern, CD Wizard ($1 surcharge,) and Jungle Love in Pahoa, online at www.paradiserollergirls.

Publinx qualifier

June 7 at Muni

The final United States Amateur Public Links sectional qualifier on the Big Island will be held June 7 Hilo Municipal Golf Course.

Any bona-fide public links amateur golfers with a handicap index limit of 4.4 may participate, entering at champs.usga.org.

The deadline for entries is 11 a.m. HST May 28, and post entries and incomplete entries will be rejected.

The National championship will be held at Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kan., on July 14-19.

Special Olympic

Registration is being held for the Special Olympics East Hawaii Golf season, which will begin May 23.

Practices will be held each Friday through August 22 at the Naniloa Volcanoes Golf Course.

There will be a tournament/ fundraiser at the end of the season at a course to be announced.

Waimea Sports

Expo is July 26

The Department of Parks and Recreation will hold a Waimea Sports Expo on July 26 at Waimea Park complex.

All interested vendors, sports affiliate and health/wellness fitness groups and community organizations wanting to participate are encouraged to contact Waimea recreation director Melissa Samura (887-3014,

Drive, Chip & Putt to Augusta

The Drive, Chip & Putt Championship local qualifier will be held at 1 p.m. May 24 at Hilo Municipal Golf Course for boys and girls ages 7-15.
