Ten children received the Sacrament of First Communion on Sunday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Papaikou.

Joyce Yafuso, second-grade catechist, said the children, with the encouragement and support of their parents, worked diligently this year to prepare for their special day.

The keiki — Zoey Ahyo, Randy Antonio, Aaron Aughe, Marley Credo, Greyson Karonis, Kanoelani Lyman, RJ O’dell-Lambeth, Santiago Patino, Madisyn Leite and Justin Takemoto — led the procession into Mass, gave the readings, and presented the gifts.

Following congratulations from the parish community, the children enjoyed a celebratory luncheon with their families in the parish hall.
