A preliminary hearing has been set for a 25-year-old homeless man accused of abducting and sexually assaulting a 27-year-old woman.

Hilo District Judge Barbara Takase on Wednesday ordered Keahi Calvin Sale to return Thursday at 2 p.m. for a hearing on charges of kidnapping, second-degree sexual assault, domestic abuse and second-degree terroristic threatening, according to court records.

Sale was arrested Saturday at Spencer Beach Park in South Kohala after police issued an all-points bulletin and dispatches seeking the public’s help in finding him. The victim managed to call for help at the beach park, and bystanders physically restrained Sale until police arrived and arrested him.

Takase found probable cause did not exist for a second court of domestic abuse.

Bail was maintained at $80,000.
