Local artists Barry Brandes, bass-baritone, and Walter Greenwood, pianist, are back again for their annual spring concert.

This year, it’s “Classical to Broadway” — a revue of lieder, art songs, opera arias and show tunes — at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at First United Protestant Church at 1350 Waianuenue Ave. in Hilo.

Tickets are available at the door — $12 for general admission, $10 for students and seniors.

Classical selections will include songs by Schubert, Mozart, Rachmaninoff and Samuel Barber’s setting of three poems by James Joyce.

The show music section features songs from “South Pacific,” “A Funny Thing,” “Lost in the Stars,” “The Fantasticks,” “Fiddler” and other great musicals of the Broadway stage.

Brandes, a singer with The Metropolitan Opera in New York for more than 20 years, has performed in major opera houses and concert halls in the United States and worldwide.

Greenwood, organist and pianist at Christ Lutheran Church in Hilo, has performed in a wide range of churches and concert halls throughout the United States in his career of more than 30 years.
