The Fire Department reported a pair of fires on Saturday.

The Fire Department reported a pair of fires on Saturday.

One destroyed an unoccupied single-story home in Milolii. Five units responded to the 9:29 a.m. alarm. The fire was reported under control at 10:15 a.m. and extinguished at noon.

Fire officials say the cause of the blaze was undetermined. The house was possibly abandoned and officials didn’t know who owned the home, according to a written Fire Department statement.

In the second fire, quick action saved a home in the 2000 block of Kilauea Avenue of Hilo from destruction.

According to a fire department statement, a pin-hole leak in a propane line to a stove caused a fire which was extinguished once the gas line was shut off, and the fire was out in seconds.

The fire caused only about $500 damage.

Two units responded to the 2:49 p.m. alarm. The fire was reported under control at 3:05 p.m. and extinguished at 3:06 p.m.
