HONOLULU (AP) — Hawaii’s insurance exchange enrolled just 574 people since it launched in October.

HONOLULU (AP) — Hawaii’s insurance exchange enrolled just 574 people since it launched in October.

This a little more than double the 257 who signed up during Hawaii Health Connector’s first month of open enrollment.

Another media outlet reported the exchange announced the figure at a board of directors meeting Friday at the state Capitol.

One primary purpose of the board meeting was to introduce Interim Executive Director Tom Matsuda.

Matsuda is taking over from Coral Andrews, who resigned.

The exchange was scheduled to start open enrollment Oct. 1, but software problems forced a two-week delay.

The exchange said nearly 90,000 uninsured Hawaii residents are eligible for coverage under the marketplace.
