HONOLULU (AP) — Gov. Neil Abercrombie said Hawaii ended the most recent fiscal year $844 million in the black.

HONOLULU (AP) — Gov. Neil Abercrombie said Hawaii ended the most recent fiscal year $844 million in the black.

The governor said in a statement Friday the administration has worked diligently to stabilize and grow Hawaii’s economy.

He said additional state revenues and a positive economic outlook put the state in a better situation to address issues such as early education, environmental protection, homelessness and support for seniors.

Hawaii’s fiscal year runs July 1 through June 30.
