Friday, May 3, was the Pahoa Elementary School Ho‘ike program. Along with a great turnout of parents and family members, the community came together to provide some extra activities and fun for the keiki. Following a wonderful performance by the students of Pahoa Elementary school, ho‘ike field day began.
Students from Kua O Ka La, Tita Peleiholani-Hall, Reggie Conarton, Crystal Silva, Isaiah De-Silva, Albert Gonsalves, Mana Liberty , Kauiki Scotti-Burrows, Golden Rowan, Talo Fifita, Kaleo Bohol, Alakea Bidal and Nick Martinez, with teachers Marty Sinkowitz and Leila Kealoha, hosted Makahiki games for the children of Pahoa Elementary.
The students had a great time taking part in a hands on cultural experience. Additional thanks goes out to Boogie Woogie Pizza for donating lunch for Kua O Ka La; Office Max for donating art supplies for craft projects; Amber Passion for hosting the card-making crafts with several classrooms; KTA for donating a gift certificate to purchase drinks, fruit and chips for the Kua O Ka La, Gemini Observatory for donating posters, games and science activities; and to the Pahoa Elementary custodial staff that helped make sure things ran smoothly! Mahalo nui loa.
