Building burns in Ocean View Estates

The Hawaii County Fire Department reported Tuesday responding to a fire of an abandoned structure in Hawaiian Ocean View Estates at 5:18 a.m.

According to a press release, firefighters arrived to find the 30-foot-by-40-foot building engulfed in flames. No other structures were nearby.

Neighbors reported that the structure had been abandoned for some time.

The building eventually collapsed due to fire damage, and was a complete loss. The damage was estimated at about $40,000.
