Kona coffee festival seeks ‘signature’ artwork

The Kona Coffee Cultural Festival has announced its “call for signature art” for the 53rd festival, which will be held Nov. 1-10.

Hawaii artists are invited to submit original Kona coffee art in all art forms including fine art, graphic design and photography that captures the essence and spirit of Kona’s rich coffee culture.

Artists of traditional media including oil, acrylic, tempera, watercolor, illustrations as well as computer graphics and photographers are invited to participate.

The selected artwork will become the official signature art for the festival, featured on merchandise, promotional materials and more. Selected artist will receive recognition, exposure and $500.

“This is a unique opportunity to showcase your talent and contribute to Hawaii’s oldest food festival,” according to a press release.

Theme: Reflect the beauty, history, and cultural tradition of Kona’s world-famous coffee.

Medium: Open to all visual art mediums, including but not limited to painting, drawing, photography, and digital art.

Deadline: Submissions must be received by March 15.

The concept image must be adaptable, in whole or in part, for the use in other media, including but without limitation, advertisements, T-shirts, brochures and rack cards. Typography should not be included within the art.

Please include a brief artist statement with the submission sharing the inspiration and connection to Kona’s coffee culture.
