Alan Alvarez, 64, of Pahoa died Aug. 30 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a construction supervisor and U.S. Army veteran. Visitation 11 a.m.-noon Saturday, Oct. 21 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Celebration of life at noon. Urn burial to follow at Alae Cemetery. Survived by wife, Barbara Jean Alvarez of Pahoa; daughters, Chential (Robert) Santos, Dione (Jesse) Pacheco, Alexis (Kawehi) Alvarez and Phoebe Aila of Pahoa; sons, Alec (Brittany) Alvarez, Tyrel Andrews and Edward Williams of Pahoa; hanai children, Junior K.
