Marcia Heidi Avena, 58, of Mountain View died June 2 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a social worker for the Office of Social Ministry and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Private services held. Survived by husband, Porfirio Avena of Mountain View; daughters, Makamae Avena, Laa Avena and Leinaala Avena of Mountain View; brother, Richard (Tessie) Estocado of Hilo; sister, Laurie (Matthew) Kalama of Hilo; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces nephews. Katherine Marie Hanson, 78, of Mountain View died March 27. Born in Honolulu, she had a master’s degree in psychology and committed her life to nurturing youth at St. Joseph Catholic School, Boys and Girls Club and Mountain View Elementary School, and was an avid tennis player and traveler. Private scattering of ashes for immediate family only in Pauoa Valley on in Honolulu, to join her beloved parents. Survived by husband, Charles W. “Chuck” Hanson of Mountain View; children, Jerry K. Schweitzer of California and Monique K. Schweitzer of Kailua, Oahu; siblings, Lauren B. Rodrigues and Barney Lindberg of Hilo and Erich P. Andrea Annette Kanaka‘ole, 76, of Hilo died April 18 at Kaiser Moanalua Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Hilo, she was a retired school bus driver. No services. Survived by daughter, Tara A. (Bojay Lato) Kanaka‘ole-Lato; sisters, Donna (Daniel) Quinn and Dinah (Ronald) Advis; brother, Matthew Beouchan; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Eunice “Loha” Kuualoha Mulec, 86, of Keaau died March 28. Born in Kapoho, she was an office clerk for Kamehameha Schools Preschool and a member of Opihikao Congregational Church. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Saturday (June 3) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park. Casual attire. Survived by son, Frank J. Norman James Santiago Sr., 72, of Mountain View died April 13 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a truck driver for the former Hamakua Sugar Co., instructor at Abregana Self-Defense Institution and member of the Red Legion Motorcycle Club.
