KINGS POINT, N.Y. – The University of Hawai’i at Manoa women’s sailing team concluded its 2022-23 campaign by placing No. 14 in the ICSA National Semifinals on Wednesday.

The Rainbow Wahine looked to advance to the finals for the first time in more than a decade but fell short of the top-nine semifinal finish needed to advance to the final two days of competition.

The ‘Bows were No. 14 after the first day of competition and remained there for the duration of the semifinals.

Weather proved a detriment for any possible run to the top nine for UHM. The regatta was grounded for much of the day due to lack of wind. The teams were unable to hit the water until late afternoon and only four races were completed on day two of competition.

UHM finished with 204 total points in 16 overall races. Mercy Tangredi and Sophia Shaeffer tallied 103 points in the A Division while Morgan Carew, Quinn Gladstone-Lamas and Taylor Ledgerwood finished with 101 points while competing in the B division.

Still, it was another successful year for the Rainbow Wahine, who notched their second straight nationals — their 20th in program history.

Yale placed first — followed by Coast Guard, Charleston, Cornell, Tulane, Georgetown, Harvard, Brown and Tufts.
