Big Island EV Association, the Hawaii Island EV club of the statewide Hawaii EV, is hosting a public event Saturday in Hilo .

This event will allow the general public to learn about the latest EVs, EV ownership, charging and the environmental and pocketbook benefits of electric cars.

This year’s event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Edith Kanakaole Multi-Purpose Stadium in Hilo.

The event will include several EV dealers and local organizations involved in clean energy and sustainable transportation.

Participating groups include: Aloha Charge; Big Island EV Association; Big Island Motors; Citizens’ Climate Lobby – Hawaii Island Chapter; County of Hawaii; Da Rubbah Slippah Group; EZ-Bikes; Hawaiian Electric; Hawaii Science and Technology Museum; Kamaaina Nissan; NexTech Hawaii; Provision Solar; Sustainable Energy Hawaii; Sustainability Partners; Tesla Hawaii Club; United Nations Association – USA Hawaii Island Chapter; and Yummet.

At the event, see the latest EVs from local dealers and owners, learn about EV ownership and charging, and take test drives. Big Island EV and Big Island Tesla Hawaii Club members will have their EVs on display.

Attendees also can learn about rebates and tax credits for electric vehicles, charging equipment, solar and energy storage systems, and energy-efficient appliances.

There also will be fun STEM activities for keiki, who can check out robots, drones, 3D printers, and more.

Crusty Buns Hawaii will sell yummy sandwiches at the concession.
