Walter Gledhill Schofield, 84, of Hilo, died Jan. 15 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Norwich, Conn., he was a boat captain and worked in numerous industries including aviation and food service worldwide. Local celebration of life with scattering of ashes held. Survived by wife, Eleanor Rhinelander Schofield of Hilo; daughter, April Louise (Steven) Hladczuk of Philadelphia; stepson, Adam Walker Young of Santa Fe, N.M.; stepdaughter, Margaret (Katie Cook) Young of Denver; hanai sister, Barbara (Robert) King of Danielson, Conn.; three grandsons. Kenneth Kamematsu Tome, 97, of Wailuku, Maui, died Jan. 2 on Maui. Born in Kukuihaele, he was a retired office manager for the Social Security Administration and U.S. Army veteran. Private services held. Survived by wife, Nancy Tome of Maui; son, Stacy Tome of Maui; daughter, Stefanie (Jay Arakawa) Tome of Maui; a granddaughter. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Woodrow Ah-kawai Kamohoali‘i Young, 85 of Waimea died Feb. 10 at home. Born in Honolulu, he was a falsetto vocalist, entertainer, U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran and bandmember whose family claims direct descendancy of King Kamehameha through maternal lineage, Kamohoalii chiefly descendancy through his paternal lineage and descendancy of the Mahi clan, Kohala chiefs and Kauauanuiamahi dynasty. Celebration of life 6 p.m. Friday (March 17) at Kuhio Hale, 64-756 Mamalahoa Hwy. in Waimea. Visitation 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday at Kuhio Hale. Service at 11:30 a.m. Burial to follow.
