Gladys Minoe Arase, 91, of Honalo died Jan. 26 at home. Born in Hofu-shi, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan, she was a seamstress. Private service held on Feb. 18. Brian Keith Berdon, 51, of Kailua-Kona died Feb. 10 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honokaa, he was an auto mechanic and member of Kona United Methodist Church. Moises D. Cumlat, 89, of Pepeekeo died Feb. 24 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Bangui, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a planting machine crew member for the former Mauna Kea Sugar Co. and member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou.
