Peggy Ann McBride, 83, of Hilo died Nov. 30 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, she was a retired hospital nurse’s aide. Private services held. Survived by sons, Alan McBride of California and David (LiPing) McBride of Japan; daughter, Eileen (Douglas) Johnson of Hilo; brothers, Michael (Nancy) O’Connor of Texas and Robert (Mary Ellen) O’Connor of Iowa; sister-in-law, Minnie O’Connor of Iowa; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Ruth Keech Mizuba, 70, of Keaau died Nov. 9 at home. Born in Washington, D.C., she was a retired social worker for the Hawaii State Judiciary, public guardian specialist and member of Hilo Bay Dance Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles and Big Island Beekeepers Association. Private services. Memorial donations to Hawaii Island Humane Society in Keaau. Survived by mother, Elizabeth Christeson of Anderson, S.C.; brother, James Raymond (Rosemary) Keech of Huntington, Md.; sister, Kathryn Elizabeth Poole of Anderson, S.C. Tsuyoshi “Slug” Murakami, 93, of Hilo died Nov. 18 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was the retired owner of the former Hilo Carpenter Shop Service and member of Hilo Higashi Hongwanji Mission and Upper Kaumana Kumiai. Private services held. Survived by wife, Alice Murakami of Hilo; brother, Howard (Winifred) Murakami of Kailua, Oahu; sisters, May Higa of Hawaii Kai, Oahu, Taeko Perreira of Kapahulu, Oahu, Lillian (Rupert) Omonaka of Kaneohe, Oahu, and Geraldine (Al) Arneson of Montana; nieces and nephews. Kiyome Yoshimatsu, 97, of Waimea died Nov. 27 at home. Born in Waimea, she was retired from Parker Ranch, a volunteer at North Hawaii Community Hospital and member of Kamuela Hongwanji Buddhist Temple. Private service at a later date.
