Valintin Alnas Sr., 89, of Paauhau died Nov. 17 at home. Born in Paauhau, he was a retired baker for the Hilton Waikoloa Village, mill worker for the former Hamakua Sugar Co., and member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Hilo KATS softball team, ILWU fast-pitch softball team, assistant coach for the Honokaa High School girls softball team in 1976, and helped coordinate construction of the Honokaa swimming pool. Visitation 8:30-10 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 10) at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa. Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Shirley Alnas of Paauhau; son, Raymond O. (Candace) Alnas of Waikoloa; daughters, Cristina A. “Crissy” (Timothy) Smith of Kalopa and Dana P. (Timothy) Costa of Honolulu; sisters, Mary (John) Welch of Arizona and Emily (Roy) Oshiro of California; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Elgin Anthony Camacho, 59, of Hilo died Oct. 28 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a field operator and landscaper for Puna Certified Nursery and formerly employed at Floral Resources and Nani Mau Gardens. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 10) at the Hilo Church of God. Celebration of life at 10 a.m. Casual attire. Joanne Kay Mattos-Mai, 58, of Hilo died Oct. 16 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. She was a cashier. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 10) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Prayer service at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Alae Cemetery. Casual attire. Daniel “Danny” Kapoo Paleka Jr., 58, of Kurtistown died Nov. 8 at home. Born in Wailuku, Maui, he was a former adult corrections officer for the state Department of Public Safety, business agent for United Public Workers, former county councilman representing Puna, county Fire Commission member and board member for Big Island Substance Abuse Council and Hawaii Rise Foundation. Visitation 3-5 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 10) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 5 p.m. Casual attire. Daniel Thomas Perreira, 73, of Waimea died Nov. 7 at home. Born in Haina, Honokaa, he was a retired county heavy equipment mechanic, worked for the former Hamakua Sugar Co., and a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in Waimea. Ronald Lee Williams, 79, of Keaau died Nov. 9 at home. Born on November 11, 1942, in Indianapolis, he was a retired assistant postmaster, U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam War veteran and past Master Masonic Lodge (Bridgeport #162) Order of Eastern Star member. Memorial service and celebration of life at a later date. Survived by wife, Diana Williams of Keaau; sons, Dennis (Julie) Williams of Texas, Todd (Angie) Williams of Arizona and Curt Williams of Louisiana; daughter, Dawn (Darrel) Goo of Hilo; brother, Jack L.
