The county Department of Parks and Recreation said the public water filling station at the entry to Papaaloa Park will be closed Monday, Oct. 10, for about four weeks.
The closure of the public spigots is necessary for the reconstruction of the parking stalls and accessible walkways as part of the Americans with Disabilities Act-compliance improvements at the park, according to Parks and Rec.
The water spigots will be reopened as soon as construction progress allows for safe use of the area.
People who rely on this water source are advised to plan accordingly and are encouraged to reference the Department of Water Supply’s website for alternative water-filling stations.
The county anticipates another temporary closure in December to allow for the paving of the driveway and the application of parking stall striping and pavement markings. The future closure will likely span two to three weeks.
A public notice will be issued at a later date when that work is scheduled.
