UH-Hilo students awarded study abroad scholarships

Three University of Hawaii at Hilo students are recipients of various scholarships to study abroad for the 2022-23 academic year.

Kylan Constantino, a sophomore majoring in Japanese Studies, is the recipient of the John and Anya McVickar Study Abroad Scholarship for $1,300 as well as the Audrey S. Furukawa Study Abroad Scholarship for $500 for his study at Tokyo Gakugei University in Japan.

Constantino is a 2021 graduate of Waimea High School on Kauai.

Eric Pohlman, a sophomore majoring in Linguistics, received the Gertrude E. McVickar Study Abroad Scholarship for $1,500 and the Audrey S. Furukawa Study Abroad Scholarship for $1,500.

Pohlman is a graduate of Honokaa High School and plans to study at the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in South Korea during fall 2022 and at Seinan Gakuin University in Japan during the spring 2023 semester.

Joshua Kosloski, a senior majoring in Marine Science, was awarded a scholarship through the Semester at Sea Program (SAS).

Beginning Friday, he will voyage with SAS and visit 11 countries, 11 cities, and 3 continents during the fall while taking classes onboard the MV World Odyssey.
