Catherine “Cathy” D. Ah Choy, 47, of Ookala died June 24, at Queens’s North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Honokaa, she worked for R. Sakata Insurance and was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Laupahoehoe. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Saturday (July 30) 2022 at Dodo Mortuary. Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Burial 1:15 p.m. at Alae Cemetery, New Section. Survived by husband, Bradford “Brad” Ah Choy of Ookala; sons, Austyn (Stacia Cacatian) Ah Choy and Daysen Ah Choy of Ookala; mother, Encarnation “Sioning” Datuin of Kapehu; sister, Juliann (George) Gascon of Waimea; brother, Richard Datuin of Kapehu; father- and mother-in-law, Joseph (Pauline) Ah Choy Jr. of Papaaloa; brothers-in-law Sheldon (Noel) Ah Choy of Ookala and Joseph “Joey” (Denise) Ah Choy III of Hawaiian Paradise Park; sister in-law, Tenille Ah Choy of Ookala; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Sandra Lee (Hoover) Botelho, 83, of Arizona, formerly of North Kohala, died June 30 in Marana, Ariz. Born in Lansing, Mich., ahe was a retired bus driver, teacher’s aide, ukulele instructor and pathfinder leader for Kohala Mission School and member of Kohala Seventh-day Adventist Church. Visitation 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday (July 30) at Hawi Seventh-day Adventist Church. Service at 10:30 a.m. Inurnment to follow at the Seventh-day Adventist Cemetery. Survived by sons, John (Merlyn) Botelho of Hawi, Paul (Robin) Botelho of North Carolina, Joseph (Joni) Botelho of Marana, Ariz., James Botelho, Jeff Goddard, Rich Schneider of Maine; sister-in-law, Sharon Botelho of Kapaau, Bonnie Botelho of Colorado, brother-in-law, Bob Morikawa of Honolulu, hanai sister, Patricia Cabral-Takata of California; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Emiko Hamakawa, 93, of Hilo died Dec. 19, 2021, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Hilo, she was a retired office assistant at Hilo Medical Center. Irineo “Irin” S. Jara, 86, of Naalehu died July 19 at home. Born in Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, Philippines; he was a retired sugar processor for the former Ka‘u Sugar Co., worked for Mac Farms and was amember of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Naalehu. Visitation 8-9:30 a.m. Saturday (July 30) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Naalehu. Rosary at 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Naalehu Community Cemetery. Casual attire.
