Ashton Kaleianuenue Martines, 31, of Kailua-Kona died May 5 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a sales associate at Office Max, cabin appearance agent at U.S. Aviation, truck driver for Pacific Waste and sales associate at Home Depot. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Friday (June 10) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Casual attire. Survived by son, Taven Kalavi-Martines of Holualoa; mother, Sharon Martines of Kailua-Kona; brothers, Patrick (Claylyn) Martines of Hilo, Jason (Tabitha) Martines of Ocean View and Berenten Cachero of Hilo; sisters, Roberta (Gary) Martinez of Milolii, Marilyn (Daniel) Pakele of Hilo, Ashley (Whendy) Stephens of Kailua-Kona and Ashlyn (Mark) Martines of Hilo; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Ralph Rollin Olson, 76, of Kailua-Kona died May 27. Born in South Dakota, he was an owner of a ranch and farm supply business. Private services. Survived by wife, Mabel Olson of Kailua-Kona; children, Kristi (Chris) Neyman and Todd Olson; two grandsons. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Jeff Robert Scofield, 62, of Seattle, formerly of Hilo, died May 28 at Swedish Medical Center-Cherry Hill in Seattle. Born in Taylorville, Ill., he received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and a master’s degree in higher education administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio and spent his career in student financial aid, as dean of financial aid at Chaminade University, assistant vice president of student financial services at Seattle University, and several director of financial aid posts, including University of Hawaii at Hilo, Longwood University in Virginia and Our Lady of the Lake and Schreiner College in Texas. His interests included Japanese literature, language, and culture, bluegrass music, nature walks, the beach, farmers markets and rhubarb pie. Memorial service later this summer in Seattle. Survived by wife, Hettie Scofield of Seattle; daughter, Camille Scofield of Seattle; son, Carter Scofield of Seattle; mother, Marilyn Scofield of Seattle; sister, Janice (Lee) Phillips of Taylorville, Ill.; sister, Christy Scofield of Greensboro, N.C.; brother, Mark (Sue) Scofield of Atlanta; brother-in-law Travis (Patricia) Allee of Terre Haute, Ind.; sister-in-law Nancy Allee of Ann Arbor, Mich.; nieces and nephews.

George Talaro, 89, of Kaneohe, Oahu, died April 20 in Kailua, Oahu. Born in Honokaa, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Private services. Arrangements by Hosoi Garden Mortuary, Honolulu.
