Most of the BIIF golfers shot worse during the final round at the state golf championship on Tuesday at Kaanapali on Maui.
Kealakehe junior Kevin Yamashita had a 9-over 76-80—156 total for 14th place, the highest finisher among BIIF golfers.
Hawaii Baptist senior Joshua Hayashida won the state title with a 1-under 69-72—141 total, four shots ahead of Maui Prep junior Dillon Jokke.
Makua Lani junior Caleb Makoff was 16th after a 15-over 76-81—157 total. Waiakea sophomore Ryder Ng placed 18th after a 15-over 75-82—157 total. BIIF champion and Waiakea junior Dysen Park was 20th after a 16-over 77-81—158 total.
Hilo junior Darrell Ramos Jr. was 41st after an 80-91—171 total. Kealakehe freshman Xander Broderson was 42nd after a 30-over 89-83—172 total. Waiakea sophomore Noah Otani was 45th after a 32-over 86-88—174 total. Hilo freshman Reynn Kaneshiro placed 70th after a 49-over 94-97—191 total. Hilo freshman Aidan Puleo was 79th after a 60-over 106-96—202 total, tied with Hilo sophomore RJ O’Dell-Lambeth, who had a 99-103—202 total.
Kamehameha junior Michael Perry finished 85th after a 64-over 105-101—206 total. Kealakehe freshman Tristin Laflamme was 86th after a 67-over 105-104—209 total.
Waiakea junior Mike Lopez placed 89t after a 69-over 105-107—211 total. Waiakea sophomore Lucas Yamanaka was 91st after a 71-over 99-114—213 total. Kamehameha senior Luke Kellikuli was 92nd after a 97=over 137-102—239 total.
Maui Prep won its first state championship with a 38-over total. Waiakea placed sixth at 103-over and Hilo 10th at 198-over.
Softball
Mililani 25, Kealakehe 0 (five innings): Ashley Ogata fired a perfect game with 15 strikeouts, and the Trojans hit three home runs against the No. 4 seed and BIIF champion Waveriders, who committed five errors at the state championship at Rainbow Wahine Stadium.
Caitlyn Nakamura pitched 1 1/3 innings in the loss, and Mia Joaquin pitched the final 3 2/3 innings.
Kealakehe (7-1) plays a consolation game at 4 p.m. at McKinleyHigh.
Leilehua eliminated Hilo 17-1 in five innings at McKinley High.
Division II
Hawaii Prep takes top seed into state softball
Hawaii Prep’s groundbreaking girls softball team carries the No. 1 seed into the the HHSAA Division II tournament, which runs Wednesday through Saturday at Maui High School.
Ka Makani, who beat Kamehameha 1-0 on Kaila Kaahu’s walk-off home run to win their first BIIF championship, will play either Nanakuli or Waimea in Thursday’s quarterfinals under the lights.
In other first round games Wednesday, the Warriors face Kaimuki at 2:15 p.m. after Honokaa takes on Aiea at noon.
The Dragons earned their spot with an 11-3 win against Pahoa in the BIIF’s third-place game. Malie Espejo went the distance and struck out eight, going 2 for 4 with an inside-the-park home run. Iliana Kaiamakini hit a triple for Honokaa (5-3).
For the Daggers (3-5), Lesly Gomes went 3 for 4 and Kawena Alatini hit two doubles.
