Phillip “Phil” Barro, 89, of Waimea, formerly of Naalehu, died April 5 at home. Born in Pahala, he was a retired equipment maintenance worker for the former Ka‘u Agribusiness, U.S. Army veteran and member of Naalehu Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Naalehu Senior Citizen Center. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Saturday (April 30) at Naalehu Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Naalehu Community Cemetery. Casual attire. Survived by son, Anthony “Masay” Barro of Waiohinu; daughters, Debbie Gacayan of Henderson, Nev., and Liane (Willy) Barro-Kilmede of Waimea; sister, Carmen (Moses) Pestano of Oahu; brother, John (Barb) Sentino of Washington; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Christine Agan Ebanez, 70, of Hilo, died April 6 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Hilo, she was retired from the state Department of Public Safety Intake Service Center. Visitation 9-10:30 a.m. Friday, May 6, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Casual attire. Gary “Laba” Dale Labrador, 65, of Kailua-Kona died April 6 on Oahu. He was born in Honokaa. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Saturday (April 30) at Honokaa Hongwanji Mission. Debra Toshie (Koga) Nirei, 61, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Pepeekeo, died Nov. 27, 2021. Born in Laupahoehoe, she was an office assistant for the University of Phoenix. Survived by husband, Kurt Nirei, formerly of Mesa, Ariz.; mother, Harumi Koga of Pepeekeo; brother, Curtis Koga of Pepeekeo; sister Edna (Angel) Macanas of Pepeekeo; mother-in-law, Mae Nirei of Hilo; brothers-in-law, Miles (Kathy) Nirei of Kaneohe, Oahu, and Guy (Verdean) Nirei of Hilo; sister-in-law, Donna (Kyle) Tengan; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Kiniya Holden Shippey, 79, of Hilo died April 14 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born on the Atoll of Mwoakilloa (Mokil), Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia, She worked the front and back of restaurants, at a car parts factory, hotels, retail sales, and picked fruit on a family farm. Private services held. Survived by sons, Rocky Holden (Mashaide) of Idaho, Russell Shippey of Washington, Robert Shippey of Michigan, Michael Shippey of Idaho and Tregar Shippey of Michigan; daughters, Mooka Alfons (Vence Finay) of Guam and Kimiya Jean Shippey-Matthews (John) of Michigan; 29 grandchildren; great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Briginia Agno Tagalicud, 92, of Hilo died March 28 at Life Care Center of Hilo.
