A 26-year-old Volcano woman who went on a crime spree in 2019 and 2020 was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in prison.

Tearon Teashell “TT” Fernandez will have to serve a minimum of 40 months before becoming eligible for parole, according to the sentence she received from Hilo Circuit Judge Peter Kubota.

In a deal with prosecutors, Pacheco-Fernandez pleaded guilty in November to two counts of second-degree robbery, two firearms offenses plus multiple other charges.

While fleeing from police, Pacheco-Fernandez collided into two cars with a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck the day before Thanksgiving 2019 in the parking lot of KTA Super Stores Puainako location, and committed two separate robberies at the Hilo Target store and Burger King on East Makaala Street on March 6, 2020.

“Here, a prison term is the only just result and appropriate punishment to reflect the seriousness of these offenses, promote respect for the law, deter future criminal conduct and protect our community,” said county Prosecutor Kelden Waltjen. “Despite her age and not having any prior felony convictions, (she) was involved in a brazen crime spree of offenses, including two robberies, where she utilized pepper spray and a 12 gauge shotgun a residential burglary and … drove a Toyota Tacoma into two cars while fleeing from police in a crowded Hilo parking lot.”
