In light of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, legislators and staff at the Hawaii State Capitol will be wearing blue and/or yellow today to show their support and solidarity for the people of Ukraine.

Senate President Ronald D. Kouchi and House Speaker Scott Saiki issued the following joint statement Thursday encouraging all legislators, capitol staff and the public to participate in this demonstration of aloha.

“The invasion and devastation of Ukraine by the Russian Federation is heartbreaking and very difficult to watch.

“Despite being thousands of miles away, we hope that this small demonstration of unity and solidarity will be felt by the people of Ukraine as they continue to fight to defend their country.

“It is our desire that the spirit of aloha will radiate and give hope to all those impacted by this conflict. Ukraine, Hawaii stands with you.”
