Police say a 26-year-old Kona man wanted for the December robbery of a 25-year-old visitor from Colorado turned himself in to police on Jan. 10.

Hauoli Vickery was charged with second-degree robbery, third-degree theft, third-degree identity theft and two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card.

Officers responding to the 75-6000 block on Alii Drive at about 7:45 p.m. Dec. 19 were told by the victim a man he didn’t know struck him in the head and stole his cell phone and wallet.

At Vickery’s initial court appearance on Jan. 12 Kona District Judge Kimberly Taniyama ordered Vickery to return for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 3 and released him on his own recognizance.
