Rae Lee Leilani Awai, 69, of Hilo died Dec. 26. Born in Hilo, she was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunty, cousin and friend. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Friday (Jan. 14) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Cremation to follow. Another service at 10 a.m. on Saturday (Jan. 15) at Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church in Keaukaha. Mass at 11 a.m. Casual attire; flowers welcome. Seating limited; face masks and social distancing required. Odette Hing, 77, of Kailua-Kona died Dec. 19 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Papeete, Tahiti, she was a homemaker, preschool teacher, security officer and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Drive-thru services 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at the LDS church on Kalani Street in Kailua-Kona. Sue Itsue Kiyota, 95, of Pepeekeo, formerly of Hilo, died Jan. 6. Born in Hilo, she was the retired owner of the former Smiley’s Super Service and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin. Michael Mukai, 63, of Hilo died Dec. 22 at home. Born in Victorville, Calif., he was a quality analyst, member of Panaewa Kumiai and Hilo High School Class of 1977 and U.S. Navy veteran. Darlyne Mililani Puou, 71, of Captain Cook died Dec. 25 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired cafeteria cook at Konawaena High School, attendant at South Kona Fruit Stand and member of South Kona Assembly of God. Services at a later date.
