Those who have applied for permits with the Hawaii County Department of Public Works have less time to pick up their approved permits than previously stated.

An error in the county’s application processing software — the Electronic Processing Information Center, or EPIC — had previously informed users that they had 90 days to pick up their permits upon notice that their application was approved, or else their applications would be cancelled.

In actuality, users have only 30 days to pick up their permits before cancellation.

Any building permit applications that were recommended for issuance before Jan. 31, 2022, will be cancelled if not picked up by March 7, 2022.

The Department of Public Works apologizes for the confusion.
