Eleanor “Ele” Kuluwaimakaokalani Evangelista, 87, of Keaau died Nov. 7 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Puna, she was a retired meat wrapper for Puna Fresh Foods, former cafeteria helper for Keaau Elementary School, composer of Hawaiian songs, former member of Ka Elele O Ka Malamalama Hoomana Naauao Church, member of Kamauloa O Ka Malamalama Hoomana Naauao Church and Alu Like Kupuna Program. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Friday (Dec. 17) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Alae Cemetery. Casual attire. Seating limited; masks and social distancing required. Lolita Valdez Ilar, 94, of Hilo died Oct. 14 at Life Care Center of Hilo.
