A Kailua-Kona man has been sentenced to five years in prison in connection to a Jan. 5, 2020, incident involving a minor.

Waynerichard Ho entered no contest pleas in July to third-degree sexual assault and marijuana possession.

Kona Circuit Judge Wendy DeWeese on Friday sentenced Ho to the five-year prison term for the sexual assault and 30 days incarceration for the drug charge, to be served concurrently. He will also be required to register as a sex offender.

“A child victim’s safety and well-being are always top priorities,” Waltjen said in a statement. “… We hope that today’s sentencing offers the victim and her family some closure and provides her with an opportunity to heal from this traumatic experience.”
