Curtis Lee Hanson, 73, of Keaukaha died Sept. 13, 2020, at home. Born in Graceville, Minn., he was an engraver, car detailer, co-owner of Shoreline Sign & Design and U.S. Navy veteran. Visitation 4-6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Celebration of life at 6 p.m. Seating is limited. Casual attire; face masks and social distancing required. Eric “Buta” Tetsu Hayashi, 49, of Hilo died August 8, 2020, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a fire equipment operator for the Hawaii Fire Department and member of Lincoln Wreckers Athletic Association and Hawaii Fire Fighters Association. Jerry Allan Iokia, 67, of Waimea, formerly of Nanakuli, died Aug. 26 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired maintenance worker for the Department of Education, member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, board member of Kula no na Po‘e Hawaii o Papakolea, Kawalo, Kalawahine, cultural practitioner of Na Lomilomi O Papakolea and U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Asako “Betsy” Kawasaki, 98, of Hilo, died July 18 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Napoopoo, she was a retired employee for the former Miko Meats and member of Hilo Meishoin Mission.
