Mollie K. Esmeralda, 97, of Keopu died June 14 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu, she was a babysitter and member of Keola Mauloa Church. Services at a later date. Survived by son, Donald (Betty) Esmeralda of Waimea; daughter, Stella Sumarnap of Kailua-Kona; hanai sons, Jacob (Cindy) Chong of Waimea, Alston (Darlene) Chong, Melvin (Sara) Thomas Jr. and Leroy Ortizl of Kailua-Kona; seven grandchildren, 17 great- grandchildren, 27 great-great-grandchildren and a great-great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews. James Hideo Kato, 96, of Hilo died June 18 in Las Vegas. Born in Wailuku, Maui, he was retired public schools vice principal and teacher, Realtor for Yamanaka Realty, member of New Hope Hilo, Waiakea Lions Club, Waiakea Kyoei Kumiai, Hawaii Island Adult Care and Cielo Vista Senior Adult Care, and a veteran of the U.S. Army 442nd Regimental Combat Team during World War II. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Saturday (July 10) at New Hope Hilo, 840 Kupulau Rd. Celebration of life at 10 a.m. Casual attire. Face masks and social distancing required. Alice Martins Gouveia Kawaauhau, 77, of Naalehu died June 14, 2021 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center in Hilo. Warren “Bill” William Miller, 85, of Kailua-Kona died June 12 at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale in Holualoa.
