Wailoa Center hosting bonsai exhibit on Friday and Saturday

Wailoa Center welcomes back the Mokuhonua Bonsai Club and Hilo Bonsai Kyoshitsu who will host their annual bonsai exhibit from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the Wailoa Center in Hilo.

Complementing the bonsai display, there will also be ikebana (floral arrangements) and suiseki (unaltered natural formed stones).

An ikebana demonstration by Nancy Locke, Sogetsu artist, is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday and a bonsai demonstration will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday by a bonsai instructor.

Seating will be limited.

The public is invited to bring their plants for a bonsai analysis by club members. In addition, plants will be available for hands-on experience in creating a bonsai.

Admission is free. Due to COVID-19, face masks and social distancing will be required.
