Masks are no longer required to be worn outdoors in Hawaii, Gov. David Ige announced today.
With more and more of the state’s population vaccinated, Ige said he has rescinded a portion of the state’s mask mandate that requires people to wear masks outdoors within 6 feet of others.
Effective immediately, masks are no longer necessary outdoors, although Ige urged people to remain cautious around other people and consider wearing masks in crowds.
State Health Director Libby Char said the new rule applies to everyone in Hawaii, vaccinated or unvaccinated.
However, outdoor gatherings are still limited to 10 people on Oahu and 25 in Hawaii County.
