An injured hiker stranded in Pololu Valley was rescued by a Hawaii Fire Department helicopter Wednesday morning.
According to a fire department report, several hikers in Pololu Valley called 911 at about 7:15 a.m. to report another hiker who was unable to hike out of the valley.
The stranded hiker complained of knee pain from an old injury that rendered them incapable of leaving the area.
The fire department sent a helicopter to retrieve the injured hiker, who was then taken via ambulance to Kohala Hospital in stable condition.
