The Wayne “Big Dog” Joseph Scholarship was awarded to four outstanding seniors who best exemplify excellence in scholastic achievements, community service and involvement in cross country or track and field. The purpose of the scholarship is to financially assist qualified student athletes to pursue their goals of higher education and to ultimately make a positive contribution to our island community.

The recipients are Gary Aquino from Keaau, Alec Ankrum from Kealakehe, Cassidy Denault from Waiakea, and Carlos Masuko from Kamehameha. Each will receive $1,500.

This is the first time there has four recipients from four different high schools.
