Tyler Collins of the Big Island was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Collins was initiated at The University of Texas at Austin.

Collins is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10% of seniors and 7.5% of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10% of the number of candidates for graduate degrees might also qualify as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who achieved scholarly distinction.

Titus Sato of Keaau was named to the dean’s list at Simpson University in Redding, Calif., for the fall 2020 semester. Sato’s major is biology. To be eligible for the dean’s list, a student must have a semester grade-point average of 3.50 or higher.
