Franklin “Patch” Dacanay, 75, of Hilo died March 23 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Olaa, he was retired from the county Wastewater Division, biker and former president of the Aliis Motorcycle Club, hunter and fisherman, and U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam War veteran awarded the Purple Heart with Gold Star.
