Hilo man charged with numerous property crimes

A 29-year-old Hilo man is charged with 12 offenses alleged to have occurred in Hilo over the past month.

Cole Evans-Tanigawa, also known as Malu Evans-Tanigawa was also arrested on two outstanding bench warrants.

He’s charged with three counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, three counts of identity theft, plus auto theft, unauthorized possession of confidential personal information, theft, attempted theft, habitual property crime and resisting an order to stop.

Evans-Tanigawa made his initial court appearance Wednesday. Hilo District Judge Kanani Laubach confirmed his bail at $141,010 and ordered him to appear for a preliminary hearing today.
