The state Senate on Wednesday voted to confirm Jeffrey W. Ng as a District Family Court judge of the 3rd Circuit, which comprises Hawaii Island. His term of office will be for six years.

He was appointed by Chief Justice Mark E. Recktenwald on March 12 from a nomination list presented by the Judicial Selection Commission.

Ng has been with the Office of the Public Defender for 18 years, providing legal counsel to indigent people accused of criminal charges in the district, family and circuit courts. He currently is the supervising attorney for the Hilo office.

Judge Ng graduated from the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law after earning his bachelor of arts degree in economics from the University of Michigan.
