The cause of a fire that destroyed an unoccupied structure late Tuesday afternoon on Elepaio Road in Volcano village is under investigation.

Four units responded to the 4:48 p.m. alarm. Upon arrival, they found the 20-foot-by-20-foot one-story wooden structure fully engulfed by flames. The roof of the structure, which had no contents, collapsed.

The fire was reportedly extinguished at 7:15 p.m.

Estimated property loss was $10,000, and there were no injuries or fatalities.
