Michael Crosby Eaton, 86, of Hawi died March 3 at home. Born in New York City, he was a renowned surfboard shaper, designer and fabricator, owner of Eaton Surfboards, pilot, car and boat builder and U.S. Coast Guard veteran. Eleanor Jane Helfrich, 73, of Hilo died March 16 at home. Born in Peoria, Ill., and raised in Burma, she was a member of the former Hilo Day Activity Center and Special Olympics swimmer. Celebration of life 2-4 p.m. Saturday, April 10, on Coconut Island (Moku Ola), weather permitting. Casual attire. Face masks and social distancing required. Burial at a later date at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Richard Yasuo Hori Sr., 88, of Kohala died March 21 at home. Born in Kohala, he was an owner and baker for the former Holy’s Bakery in Manoa, Oahu, and Duty Free Shop on Oahu. No services. Survived by children, Deborah Aiko Hori Kaholoa‘a, Robin Hori, Richard Hori Jr. and Joel Hori; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Vladimir Borisovich Skorikov, Ph.D., 61, of Hilo died Feb. 21 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Moscow, he was a professor of psychology at the University of Hawaii at Hilo, published papers on developmental psychology, career development and research methodology and was a world traveler who enjoyed skiing, tennis, swimming, entertaining, grilling and working on home projects and his garden. Public visitation 4-5 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Seating is limited; face masks and social distancing required. Casual attire.
