Alexander Borero Jr., 65, of Mountain View died Jan. 7 in Mountain View. Born in Hilo, he was a welder and worked for various welding and construction companies. Celebration of life at a later date. Survived by wife, Diane Borero of Mountain View; daughters, Rachel (Peter) Vasen of Louisiana and LeeAnn Borero of Hilo; son, Alexander Borero III of Mountain View; sisters, Diane Smith and Linda Borero of Las Vegas, Lynn Smith of Kurtistown and Maraiah (Armstrong) Yamamoto of Hawaiian Beaches; brother, Byron (Donna Mae) Smith of Hilo; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Feliza Baclig Jara, 92, of Naalehu died Jan. 9 at home. Born in Cabugao, Philippines, she was a retired macadamia nut picker for Royal Hawaiian Macadamia Nut Co. and member of the Naalehu Assembly of God Church. Graveside service 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at Naalehu Community Cemetery. Face masks and social distancing required. Survived by son, Rollie (Catherine) Jara of Naalehu; daughter, Myrna (Edwin) Ocol of Honolulu; brother, Felipe Baclig of the Philippines; two grandsons and three granddaughters; nieces, nephews and cousins. Fred R. Soriano, 76, of Hilo died Jan. 7 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Pahala, he was a retired professor of sociology and cultural anthropology from the University of Hawaii at Hilo, stone sculptor, member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and U.S. Army veteran. Visitation 4:30-6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Wake service at 6 p.m. Cremation to follow. Additional visitation 9-9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
