George “Bully” Alameda Jr., 85, of Hilo died Dec. 25 at home. Born in Waiakea, he was a retired plumber for Alameda’s Plumbing and plumber/pipefitter with UA Local 675, member of the 1953 Hilo High School Territory of Hawaii Basketball Championship team and Hawaii Island Senior Basketball Circuit, played for Waiakea Pirates and Keaukaha and member of Keaukaha Community Association and Malia Puka O Kalani Church. Drive-through visitation only 9 a.m.-noon Friday, Jan. 15, at Dodo Mortuary chapel. Burial to follow at 1:15 p.m. at Homelani Memorial Park, Section 7. Face masks and social distancing required. Brice Kahoiwai “Pocho” Buyuan, 65, of Captain Cook died Dec. 18 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Pahala, he was a truck driver for Ka‘u Agribusiness Sugar Co., transporter for Hertz Rent-A-Car, public area attendant for the Four Seasons Hualalai and U.S. Army National Guard veteran.
