Two more COVID-19 deaths were reported today among residents of the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home by Hawaii County Civil Defense. That’s in addition to two veterans home resident deaths reported on Monday.

That brings the number of coronavirus-related deaths reported by Hilo Medical Center to 15, with 14 of them veterans home residents, Mayor Harry Kim said today on Na Leo Public Television.

Those deaths have not yet been added to the state total, which is, at this point, officially at 100.

The state Department of Health reported 66 new COVID-19 cases today, bringing the statewide total number of cases to 10,844.

Of the new cases, 60 were in the City and County of Honolulu, bringing its case total to 9,782.

Hawaii County reported six new cases with its total number now at 599. One Big Island case was removed from the count and another was re-categorized from Oahu to the Big Island, according to the state Department of Health.

There were no new cases reported in Maui or Kauai counties, with their case totals remaining at 378 and 58, respectively.

Hawaii residents reported infected while out of state number 27.

Of the state’s cases, 654 have required hospitalization and 3,885 have been released from isolation as “recovered.”

There is a coronavirus testing clinics scheduled for 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday at Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium in Hilo.
