Jeannine Kaleonahenaheonalani Palakiko Crisafi, 54, of Kailua-Kona died Aug. 14 at Kona Community Hospital. She was born in Honolulu. Services at a later date. Condolences to: Deborah Cortes, P.O. Edward “Ed” John Gardner Jr., 58, of Hilo died Aug. 6. Born in Honolulu, he was a former painter of A&A Hawaii Inc. and a McKinley High School alum. Ashes to be spread at sea off Oahu. Karl Lee Lopez, 61, of Hilo died Aug. 6 at home. Born in Kansas City, Kan., he was a former security guard, member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and U.S. Navy veteran. Private services held. Survived by sons, Quillan Lopez of Hilo and Eziekiel (Aree) Lopez of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Francesca (Patrick) Lopez-Aurello of Hilo; mother, Delores Lopez of Kansas; brother, Steve Lopez of Kansas; sister, Carol Lopez of Kansas; five grandchildren. John W. Shaw, 83, of Pahoa died Aug. 14. No services. Survivors are asked to call Ballard Family Mortuary at (808) 935-8445.

Toshie Shimizu, 94, of Keaau died Feb. 20 at home. Born in Kapoho, she was a retired frozen foods buyer for the former Sure Save Supermarkets and member of Puna Hongwanji Buddhist Temple. Survived by son, Keith (Leila) Shimizu of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Lynn (Calvin) Koshiyama of Anchorage, Alaska; brother, Isami Tanioka of Pahoa; sister, Harumi (Shozo) Nakamura of Honolulu; daughter-in-law, Lorraine Shimizu of North Hollywood, Calif.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; nephews, nieces and cousins.
